Happy Birthday Little

We celebrated Finley's first birthday last Saturday, and it was so fun! I was really proud of her because she wore her birthday hat the entire time (we had "hat boot camp" leading up to the party, and the practice really paid off). She was having the time of her life, with all of her favorite people in the same room. I think she actually knew that people were there to celebrate her and that SHE was the center of attention. Of course, that was nothing new. The only gliche was that she adamently refused to eat her birthday cake. She looked at it like it was gross, and really got upset when we put her fingers in the icing. Funny girl.

It was so encouraging to see our friends show up to celebrate her with us...it felt like a bigger deal than I thought it would be...the first birthday for our first baby...feels like a big milestone. I'm not sure which to celebrate...that we made it through the first year of parenting, or that Finley made it through a year of being parented by us. Either way, we made it! All 365 days!
