The Girl with the Wings on

It was Finley's birthday a few weeks ago, and I'm still having a hard time believing that she is three. I seem to be staring at her a lot lately, just admiring her cute manerisms and grown-up vocabulary. She lives in her wings and fairy skirt, dancing around the house, proclaiming that she is a princess. I love this about her. I never really got into the whole princess thing as a girl, and I never thought I would have a little "princess". But, I think it's kinda sweet, and something that won't last forever. We often talk about how fairy princesses are kind and compassionate, so it's a big responsibility to put on the wings. One day, she came dancing into the living room with nothing on but her wings, skirt and slippers. I can't tell you how much I enjoyed watching her spin around with her cute little tooshie hanging out of her tutu. I'm amazed at how early little girls aspire to be beautiful. Everytime we get ready for church, she runs to her papa to show him her pretty dress. It makes my heart sing when she twirls around for him, and Ted gushes about how beautiful she is. She doesn't know it now, but those moments will forever be etched in her mind.

Ryder wants to be just like her. He copies everything she does including sitting on the little potty and putting on skirts. He always wants to sit on top of her when they cuddle on the couch. Ryder can never get close enough. I think we all agree that she is pretty special. I'm so thankful for her and the joy that she brings to our family. I don't think I have ever laughed so hard, and had so many stories to Ted at the end of the day. She has a special way of making each day new and interesting. Love you sweet birthday girl!

Finley is indeed a special little girl that lights up a room AND her Nonnie's heart....just like her Mama did (and still does)! I love you both! :^) Nonnie
