Speaking of funny conversations with kids (last entry), I had some memorable moments with Brooke and Blake this weekend, since they spent the night at our apartment. B & B always act really interested in my growing belly...I think it's because my belly sits about eye level for them...so, when they see me, it's all they can think about. On the drive to the apartment, Blake asked me how the baby was supposed to come out. I laughed, just trying to imagine how I should respond to that question. Brooke quickly corrected Blake, "She doesn't know...she's never had one before!" I kinda wish she was right about that, but I assured them that I did know and tried to quickly describe the baby's avenue of arrival...in the simplest way I knew how. Neither were very excited about the explanation, and tried to convince me that it was very different when they were born.
We had a lot of fun with B&B, eating tacos and watching a Christmas movie. When we pulled up at the deli for lunch, I made the comment that I was glad there weren't many people in the restaurant. Blake says, "yeah...it's a good thing, because you have a BIG BELLY!"
This morning, I thought through the weekend and reminded myself of how blessed I am to be in this family. I hung out with my niece and nephew on Friday night, then we all visited my aging grandmother on Saturday morning, and then my dad came over on Sunday, to help me hang shelves in the nursery. It's really sweet that we are able to support each other through life's challenges. B-Kaps, I hope you know that you really hit the family lottery!! The only thing that would make it better is if somehow, I could work out a way to make the Sooners out-number the Longhorns. I think this is really possible, depending how many kids I have. The way I figure it, there are 5 UT grads in my family right now. There are 2 OU grads. So, if I can have 4 kids that all go to OU, I think I could turn everything around! TOTALLY WORTH IT! B-Kaps, no pressure, you can go to any college you choose......as long as you don't mind paying your own tuition...just kidding (kinda).
